Hello friends and family!
For those who don't know, I had applied to Youth With A Mission's School of Photography 1 school, and got accepted! Youth With A Mission (YWAM) is a non denominational mission organization. After I graduated from High School in 2009 God led me to Maui, HI for a 6 month long Discipleship Training School (DTS). I remember leaving the town Paia and looking out the van window asking God to bring me back to YWAM again. Looks like He has :) School of Photography 1 is a 3 month long Secondary School with YWAM. It's located in Kona, HI (miserable, right?!) at the main base for the University of the Nations. UofN is the name of the university through YWAM. They offer degrees in many areas like counseling, health and photography. I have always been interested in photography since the age of 6 and I found out my dad used to take wedding photos. At that time I just wanted to be a photographer like him, and that's what got me interested. I do know that God has deepened my interest in photography since then! For a long time I thought there was no way God would bless me with the desire of my heart and that it was only something I wanted to do. This past summer I had tried to take a few photos for fun and realized I wasn't as joyful in it anymore as I used to be! That's when I decided to apply for SOP 1. I know it may seem that I could of chosen any school to learn photogrpahy but the reason I want to learn through YWAM is because there I will learn to take photos as God wants me to through seeing it as more missions minded. Whether that's actually out in the field of missions work or portrait photography, God calls us to use our gifts FOR HIM. I don't want my selfishness that can so easily come up, especially wanting to be good at photography, to blind me from the way God wants to use me. During the school we will be taught not only the skill to take photos but also to view how we take our photos in a more heavenly perspective, not that of this world. Also to to gain a selfless view of photography that focuses on others and how to capture who they truly are and not focusing on ourselves and thinking only about what our photography can do for us.
With that I would like to ask for prayer! That God will prepare my heart for this time (It lasts from January 2nd, 2014 - March 26th, 2014) and that I will listen to His leading.
I also want you all to know if you would like to help support me financially (the total cost of the school is $5400!) I would love to help back in return! I am as much of a beginner as you can probably get! But if anyone would like any fall photos taken of you, your family, your newborn, etc...It would be great practice for me! I will be posting a few photos soon that i've taken with friends (that way you guys will know what you're getting yourselves into! :)
Thank you so much if you took the time to read this :)
Blessings to you all!!
